What is the most common location of pain in patients with aortic dissection?

In a case series of 464 patients with aortic dissections, 60% presented with chest pain, 64% stated the pain was “sharp,” and 50% stated it was tearing or ripping. Syncope occurred 10% of the time. In all 90% of the patients stated that the pain associated with their dissection was the worst they had ever felt.
