September  2023While  leprosy  is  now  treatable  with  multidrug  therapy,  the  disease  is  still  endemic  in  many  countries,  including  Southeast  Asia,  the  Americas,  and  Africa.  Recently,  it  has  been  identified  in  Florida  and  Texas,  and  is  thought  to  be  endemic  in  those  states.  Diagnosis  can  be  delayed  because  many  physicians  are  unaware  of  the  disease.  See  discussion  at  the  end  of  disorders  discussed  under  FACE.
