AB Antihistamines  and  decongestants  rank  among  the  highest  prescription  and  non  prescription  xenobiotics  used  in  the  United  States.  In  2011,  antihistamines  and  cough  and  cold  preparations  ranked  respectively  9th  and  11th  in  substance  categories  most  frequently  involved  in  human  exposures  related  calls  to  US  Poison  Control  centers.  Antihistamines  ranked  11th  place  in  categories  associated  with  the  largest  number  of  fatalities  in  2011  (Chap.  136).
